True Colours Distribution announces digital signage deal with Digital View

Premium HD Media Player. The ViewStream 500 Full HD 1080P with digital audio. Built to serve retail and museum needs

True Colours Distribution has announced a distribution partnership with Digital View, the company behind the 'ViewStream' brand of solid-state media players.

Digital View media players deliver full screen media and are updated by physical insertion of a CF card or USB stick. This is suitable for projects that do not require frequent content changes and are not budget reliant on IT infrastructure and technical support.

Dave Raymen, technical director at True Colours commented, 'The term digital signage is usually associated with a screen that displays a combination of live video, static advertisements, tickers and RSS feeds. However, in reality, digital signage can often be more refined and focused with single, full-screen content. Traditional print media and video commercials are not split into multiple information areas because the main message becomes diluted.'

There are two product sets; The VS range of external small format player can sit on the back of any display and support resolution formats up to and including HD. The ‘video flyer' incorporates a display screen with the option of touch screen functionality. A common software programme, DV studio, is included to allow the creation of simple timing schedules and touch screen programming. There is also an external button interface which allows content to be recalled from any external button or contact closure trigger. Control via RS232 is also possible.

Digital View being aimed at applications such as poster style advertisements, point of sale applications, retail branding and visitor centres. It is also suitable for end user applications that require content to be triggered via a switch, light sensor or PIR motion detector. Full PR

HDMI signal distribution over a single UTP cable with Obonok Technologies.
Date News

08/12/08

The new range of connectivity solutions from Obonok Technologies, referred to as the Blu-Wire Series, is the result of extensive research and development. The Blu-Wire Series is unique in its ability to connect a High-Definition source, such as a Blu-Ray disc player, to hundreds of High-Definition displays within a 350-meter radius, using only singular CatX (network-type) cables. Blu-Wire can extend 1080p with HDCP to 50 meters (164 feet).

Benefits of the Blu-Wire Series:

A single UTP cable carries all signals, including HDCP (conventional products need to use two cables; one shielded).

Fully supports 1080p / 1080i / 720p plus the HDCP content-protection protocol.

HDMI + HDCP may be distributed to hundreds of displays out to 650 ft. (1080p) or 2000 ft. (1080i) from the source. This is by far the longest extension distance available over CatX.

Proprietary, patent-pending technologies.

Automatic signal EQ (equalisation) regardless of cable distance. No adjustments needed at transmitter or receiver.

Not sensitive to electronic interference.

Avocent partners with Gas Station TV
Date News

17/05/07

mpx1000avo_img

Avocent Corporation announced on May 15 a key customer partnership with Gas Station TV (GSTV) to provide programming through video monitors and speakers integrated into gas station pumps at leading gas retailers.
“Consumers spend, on average, four and a half minutes at the gas pump with nothing to do.

Using Avocent’s wireless HD technology for enhanced video and audio at the gas pump allows GSTV to offer superior digital signage to consumers when refueling,” said David Leider, CEO of GSTV. “We’re excited to be the first and only gas station television network to use Avocent’s Emerge™ MPX 1000 HD multipoint extender solution. This effort combines GSTV’s media expertise and Avocent’s digital signage technology for a unique solution to meet the growing demand for highly tailored, personalized marketing to consumers at the gas pump.”

Avocent’s wireless HD distribution technology eliminates, according to Avocent,  the need to install costly additional wiring to deliver news and advertising content to each gas pump display.  GSTV brings extensive media expertise to the digital signage industry with entertaining and engaging programming for the mobile consumer. The system will be based on Avocent’s Emerge MPX1000 media distribution system, that is able to deliver a synchronized stream of high-definition computer graphics or video and associated audio from one source to as many as eight display devices.  Manageability is provided through an onboard web interface and device control is accommodated through extension of serial, IR and HDMI control data. The Emerge MPX1000 extender solution supports VGA and HDMI/DVI digital video and audio signals.

“We are pleased to work with GSTV and their use of the Emerge MPX1000 HD Multipoint Extender,” said Mitch Friend, senior vice president and general manager of Avocent. “This relationship demonstrates Avocent’s continued leadership in offering wireless connectivity products to those companies who need ‘best in class’ digital signage to reach their customers.”
Demonstrations of the Avocent wireless distribution systems are taking place at the Digital Signage Expo in Chicago this week.
